About Us
We are Carnegie Mellon's venture capital and private equity club based out of the Swartz Center in Pittsburgh, PA
Our Mission
Scottie Ventures' mission is to introduce Carnegie Mellon students to the world of venture capital by giving them the opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge, and network needed to be successful in the industry.
What We Do
Each semester, Analysts get the opportunity to intern under partner VC, Growth, & PE firms in Pittsburgh, NYC, and San Francisco. Analyst classes are selected in September each year and go through our education and competitions curriculum to prepare for these real-world internships.
Scottie Ventures teaches weekly education sessions, with curriculum designed to teach the fundamental aspects of venture capital and private equity. This includes lectures, homework, and speakers from other organizations. We provide hands-on learning, including a competition with a mock startup pitch and subsequent negotiations.
The VC Investment Competition is the world’s largest venture capital competition, with over 120 university and graduate school teams competing. VCIC is the place where students get to be VCs for the day, and startups practice pitching in for the fundraising process.
As an Analyst, you will have the chance to participate in internal competitions and VCIC. Scottie Ventures hosts a regional VCIC competition, hosting universities from around the Midwest. Last year, our team placed first at the global VCIC competition.
We invite speakers including VCs, Entrepreneurs, and PE firms to provide a platform for CMU students to learn from those in industry. We also host additional events including recruitment development sessions, education sessions, and networking opportunities.
